Title- Recognize Your FEBCO 765-1 PVB
-
Look at your FEBCO 765-1 PVB at three different viewpoint as show in the three different photos.
-
No tools required at this step.

Title- Close the Upstream Shut-Off Valve
-
Description: Properly isolate the water supply by closing the upstream shut-off valve before beginning any repair work on your FEBCO 765-1 PVB.
-
Tools Required: No tolls needed
-
Instruction: 1.Locate the upstream shut-off valve. 2.Identify the valve handle position - when aligned with the pipe, the valve is open (water flowing). 3.Rotate the valve handle 90 degrees (quarter turn) so it's perpendicular to the pipe. 4.Rotate the valve handle 90 degrees (quarter turn) so it's perpendicular to the pipe.

-
Title: Relieve Pressure
-
Description: Release water pressure from the system by opening the test valves after shutting off the upstream valve.
-
Tools Required: Small bucket or container to catch water. Flathead screwdriver (if test valves require one)
-
Instructions: 1. Position a bucket beneath the test valves to catch any water discharge. 2. Identify the closed position of the test valves. 3.Using a flathead screwdriver turn valves to the open position. 4.Leave the test valves in the open position while performing the repair work.

Title: Locate the Bonnet
-
Description: Identify and access the bonnet assembly, which houses the internal components that need replacement.
-
Tools Required: Adjustable wrench or appropriate sized wrench. Most time can just use hand to loose it.
-
Instructions: 1.Examine the nut to determine the appropriate tool needed - typically hand or adjustable wrench. 2. Carefully loosen the screw by turning it counterclockwise using your hand or adjustable wrench. 3.Locate the bonnet assembly beneath the cap.
-
-
-
Title: Remove Bonnet
-
Description: Safely extract the bonnet assembly from the valve body to access the internal components for replacement.
-
Tools Required: Plumber's wrench or channel-lock pliers. Clean towel or rag
-
Instructions: 1.Position your plumber's wrench securely on the flats of the bonnet, ensuring a firm grip without damaging the component. ( hands work too) 2.Carefully lift the bonnet straight upward to remove it from the valve body, avoiding any twisting motion that could damage internal components. 3.Examine the removed bonnet.
-
-
-
-
Title: Inspect Removed Bonnet
-
Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver
-
Instructions: 1.Examine the O-ring closely for any signs of damage including cracks, tears, flattening, or deformation. 2.Check the O-ring's color and texture - a healthy O-ring should be flexible and uniform in appearance without discoloration. 3.Using the tip of a flathead screwdriver, gently press against the O-ring to test its elasticity.
-
-
-
Title: Locate Poppet
-
Tools Required: No
-
Instructions: 1.Look down into the valve body from above (bird's eye view) to locate the poppet assembly sitting inside the valve chamber. 2.Note the orientation and position of the poppet before removal - pay attention to which side faces up. 3.Carefully reach into the valve body with your fingers or needle-nose pliers if necessary.
-
-
-
Title: Remove Poppet
-
Tools required: No
-
Instructions: 1.Confirm the poppet has been completely removed from the valve body. 2. Hold the poppet up to examine it from different angles, rotating it to observe all surfaces. 3.Inspect the sealing face of the poppet - this is the flat or contoured surface that creates the watertight seal against the valve seat.
-
-
-
Title: Clean Valve Boday
-
Tools Required: Clean lint-free cloth Soft bristle brush Clean water Small mirror (optional) Flashlight
-
Instructions: 1.Inspect the interior of the valve body and identify any visible debris such as leaves, twigs, or sediment. 2.Look for and remove any small debris, sand, or particles that could interfere with proper sealing. 3.Allow the valve interior to dry or gently wipe dry with a clean cloth before proceeding with reassembly.
-
-
-
Title: Install New Poppet
-
Tools Required: Old poppet with new O-ring from repair kit.
-
Instructions: 1.Identify the worn O-ring on the old poppet assembly that needs replacement. 2.Take the new O-ring from your repair kit and inspect it for any manufacturing defects before installation.3.Verify the poppet sits flat and doesn't rock or move when gently pressed.
-
-
-
Title: Install New Bonnet
-
Tools Required: New bonnet assembly from repair kit. Adjustable wrench.
-
Instructions: 1. Inspect the new bonnet assembly, ensuring all components are properly seated and O-rings are in place. 2.Carefully lower the bonnet into position and begin threading it by hand, turning clockwise. 3.Once hand-tight, use an adjustable wrench to continue tightening the bonnet just slight tighten than hand.
-
-
-
Title: Install the Cap
-
Tools Required: No
-
Instructions: 1.Ensure the bonnet is properly installed and tightened before proceeding with cap installation. 2.Gently place the cap in position over the bonnet assembly, ensuring it sits flush and evenly on the valve.3 Hand-tighten the fastener, Avoid over-tightening.

-
Title: Restore Water Flow
-
Description: Safely restore water flow to the system by properly sequencing the opening of shut-off valves to prevent water hammer and allow for leak inspection.
-
Tools Required: Flat head screwdriver.
-
Instructions: 1.Identify the upstream shut-off valve that was closed at the beginning of the procedure.2.Ensure all test ball valve are returned to their closed position.3.Slowly open the upstream valve by turning the handle 90 degrees from perpendicular to parallel with the pipe. 4.Perform a final inspection of all components under full pressure.
